Books, Browns and Brights

We love books and reading. We live in a 2 bedroom flat, without much extra space, but we have this in our sitting room:

And this:

And this:

In the spare bedroom we have this:

And in the hallway, this:

And in the kitchen, this:

Since my last major bipolar episode (from which I am slowly recovering), I have found concentrating on reading very difficult.
Normally I would like a good psychopath and forensic detective. I am reading very different novels at the moment.

I finished this over the weekend and it is laugh out loud on every page!

The book is a series of emails between 2 sisters; one lives in
London and the other has just moved to Canada. I would highly recommend it if you want to feel happy (and feel more secure with your own parenting skills!)

I started a Jodi Picoult last night. I have read this before, but with the memory loss associated with bipolar, it is like having a brand new book. I will never have to buy another novel again, just embark on an endless round of re-reading all the books in the house.

I have a confession to make. I dog ear pages. It drives Fin mad...

I have a cute Twinsknit pattern for a knitted bookmark. Maybe I shall do that over the post blanket Christmas hols, and make NOT dog earring a New Year Resolution!

In addition to doing some reading, I have finally got around to working on the brown and brights blanket.

I started off with a jumble like this:

Which has been translated into a rather satisfying stack of completed squares:

So the next few days will see ends woven in (a strangely enjoyable job), the squares crocheted together and a border put on. The grand reveal should be by the weekend.

  1. Thank you for another great blog - I love these little guided tours into your life! It's nice to see someone else with about as many books as we have!! Though the majority of ours are non fiction we do have a smattering of novels mainly fantasy in sets that Ralph has collected , but sadly I have not yet found a way to knit or crochet and read at the same time. I keep saying "one day" when I'm not busy... I have a collection of Terry Pratchett novels waiting for me!! Love the brown and brights blanket the colours go so well together, it will look amazing!! Keep up the good work!!!

I'm so glad you are enjoying my blog. It's odd writing and not knowing what people think...only a few people leave comments, but I'm heading towards 700 views.
