However, Adored Grandson mentioned he would like a cowboy (must be due to the Texan side of the family), so that got me going.
Over the years, I have bought many of a Jean Greehowe's pattern books, but have never made a single toy from them. I dug out this pattern book:
Originally I got it when I was teaching Foundation Stage, planning to make props for storytelling. Shortly after, though, I moved to Ayer 2, so it was no longer appropriate.
In the book there is a pattern for a cowboy:
Looking at the pattern, I counted up 10 colours that I would need. Now this is where Improve my point that YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH YARN. I was immediately able to pull all the colours out of my Stylecraft stash. No having to make do with substitutes; no having
to go out to the shops; no having to spend more money. I ended up with this:
No sooner said than done, and the project was started. I will post photos when I finish.
So please, if you are accused of hoarding yarn, remember this little tale and remind yourself that you are actually being well prepared, organised and thrifty.
Yarn stockers of the world unite!!
Here we go again...still haven't been able to preview the post, so there are some typos from autocorrect. Sorry!

ReplyDeletegreat post, and you prove my theory perfectly - having a yarn collection cuts down on shopping time - driving, parking, paying for parking, finding the yarn you want all in one place (highly unlikely - in Oz, anyway) getting back to the car, driving home again, all tasks that waste perfectly good knitting time!!! So well done!! Can't wait to see the cowboy finished!!!
