I was looking at Bunny Mummy's blog yesterday, and came across her pattern for a daisy pattern granny square. It screamed 'ME' at me, and I knew I had to try it. I promised myself I would only spend a little time with it, having so many Christmas projects on the go...
Off to my trusty Stylecraft stash to pick my colours:
First, some little yellow centres...
Next, petals made from puff stitch...
Coloured rows added...
Outside border added and all ends woven in...
Squares pinned together, wrong sides facing. My pincushion is from a Little Cotton Rabbits pattern...
Squares crocheted together, with the joining rib on the right side. I LOVE the colours. The 2 blues are like Spring and Summer skies. The green is a lovely grassy colour. I had picked the pinky colours by instinct. Once they were worked up, though, I realised they were the exact colours found in Sweet Williams - my favourite flowers.
I put this project to one side and with great virtue, worked on a Christmas present. I was watching some reruns of Blue Bloods in the evening, and, without being aware of it happening, found this on the table at bedtime...
Guess it was the crochet fairies that had been busy!
All my yarn stashed in my beautiful Namaste knitting bag...
Promises to myself to be more disciplined in future...like that's going to happen!
Love those centres.
ReplyDeleteI think daisies are such happy little flowers, much like your own daffodils!
DeleteI'm so jealous of the throw on your chair, as well as the covered pencil holders. Oh, and the flowers and granny squares. I'm just jealous of all of it! I wish you lived closer so you could teach me how to crochet and knit.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, crochet is really easy to pick up. I have been doing it for less than a year. I know from your blog that you like doing things hand on not looking at tutorials, but I really would recommend BunnyMummy's blog because she does loads of photos. She has been a major reason for me picking it up.
DeleteIt's the colours that I love. Look at Attic24's blog too .... Her house if full of gorgeous, gorgeous crochet!
And where is the happypotamus? perhaps you are putting that off until after Christmas. I'll have to start nagging you then!
ReplyDeleteThat is being saved until I can get you to come down and stay again, my lovely
