I felt so ashamed when I saw yesterday's photos of my craft corner, that I was galvanised into action.
Ta-dah!!
My second ever blanket. It's a giant granny square made of Stylecraft Special DK, worked on a 3.5mm hook. I love it apart from the one band of NEON ORANGE - it's marketed as 'Jaffa' which sounds appealing, but in reality more closely resembles a high visibility jacket. However, it took me finishing off two rounds to realise it was yucky, and I didn't want to waste all the work! Who would know such a grim and grotty, but very comfortable, chair is under there?

This is the middle section of my cubbies. The basket holds wool for bear bodies. On top are some of my craft books and pattern books. Just in front of my plants is a picture of my beloved boys. Amazingly, it is now 7 years old.
This is the end of the cubby unit. It holds yet more Stylecraft. Under the coffee table is a large basket with Stylecraft Aran.
On the bottom left of the photo you can just see 2 fabric organiser bins. I got them from Etsy a couple of years ago, and they are great for holding odds and ends of yarn.
As I said, technical problems. The last photo is of my 2 fabulised crochet hooks and knitted needles holders. One was originally a biscuit tin and the other held chopped tomatoes! They were my first project outside of granny squares and muchly fun. The hedgehog pincushion was from a Little Cotton a Rabbits pattern and is the most stable and cutest one I have had.
ReplyDeleteWell you now have a lovely crafty corner - welcome to blogland. I am a teacher too, trying to find crafting time of an evening! You can find me over at http://daffodil2012.blogspot.co.uk/ the Suburban Daffodil. Take care. x
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping in. I have just looked at your blog - I am always impressed when people have the staying power to make clothes. Toys are my knitting thing and I am just finding my feet with crochet. I have found that since I finished teaching not only has my crafting become more important, but I am getting more adventurous.
DeleteKeep in touch, Daffodil!
I rather like the neon stripe, myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks Margot. Fortunately there are so many colours, it gets a bit 'lost' in the whole thing. I'm not sure quite why I dislike it so much...it's not as if I am a subtle, pastel kind of person.
DeleteI love the bright coloured blanket it looks amazing. Your area is much more organised than mine - storage cubbies would be heaven!! One day when we move I might have a studio - but for now that is all planned out in my head......
ReplyDeleteI have a book called 'Organising your craft space' and I literally salivate over the pictures. I am lucky to have this area in the sitting room. It makes me happy to see all the bright colours!
